What is NoOut?
NoOut lets you stake real access to your own distracting apps against an unpredictable check-in. You pick the apps, accept a consequence, and at some random moment NoOut sends a signal with a short code. Miss it, and those apps lock themselves through Apple's Screen Time enforcement — not a reminder you can swipe away.
What's the difference between Solo Mode and Global Mode?
Solo Mode sends you a private, randomly-timed signal just for you, and needs no account. Global Mode sends everyone in it the same signal at the same deterministic moment each day — a shared, everyone-gets-it-together check-in — which is why it requires signing in.
Can I play both Solo and Global at the same time?
Yes. You pick one to start with, and can join the other later from its own tab. Both use the same staked apps — there's no separate stake to set up per mode.
Can Global Mode's signal arrive while I'm asleep?
Yes. Global Mode fires at one fixed worldwide instant, not adjusted to your timezone — depending on where you live, that can land at any local hour, including the middle of the night. NoOut does not delay, skip, or account for this in any way, and missing it still costs you the full consequence. This is disclosed explicitly, and you have to confirm you understand it before joining Global Mode.
What happens if I miss a signal?
Your staked apps lock for the penalty period you agreed to, and it escalates the longer you keep missing. Since Solo and Global share one stake, a miss in either mode locks your apps in both — a loss is a loss, wherever it happens. See the full breakdown.
Why do I have to add another app after a miss?
Once your lock expires, NoOut won't send another signal until you've staked more apps than you had at the moment you missed. It's a deliberate re-commitment gate — raising the stakes is the price of getting back in, not just waiting out the clock.
Can I quit a mode without it feeling like an escape hatch?
You can leave Solo or Global independently, but it's not instant — the mode you're leaving keeps running until its next signal resolves, win or lose, and a miss on that last signal still costs you exactly what it always would. Opting out never waives the consequence.
Does NoOut see which apps I picked?
No. You choose apps through Apple's own Screen Time picker, which only ever hands NoOut an anonymous token — never the app's name or icon. This is an Apple platform guarantee, not a NoOut policy.
Is my data private?
In Solo Mode, everything stays on your device — no account, no server. Global Mode needs an account to sync your signal, but NoOut still never learns which apps you protected. Full details in the Privacy Policy.
Can I pay to skip a lock?
No streak freezes, no skips, no early unlocks. If it could be undone with a purchase, it wouldn't be a consequence.
Can I sign in with both Apple and Google?
No — sign-in is tied to your device's platform: Sign in with Apple on iOS, Sign in with Google on Android. Accounts are never linked or merged across the two, so switching platforms means starting a fresh account; your history doesn't follow you across the switch.
Does NoOut work on Android?
Not yet. iOS's Screen Time API is what makes real enforcement possible; Android support is being evaluated separately.
