What BuyThisAgain does, what it doesn't, and how the free tier works.
What is BuyThisAgain?
A memory tool for products whose exact identity matters when you buy another one — filters, paint, bulbs, toner, batteries, appliance parts. Snap a photo, it reads the barcode and label on-device, you label it in your own words, and months later you search and get the exact product back.
How is this different from a home inventory app or Notes/Photos?
A home inventory app catalogs everything you own, usually by room. BuyThisAgain is narrower on purpose — just the things where the exact model or spec matters when you buy again — and structured, not a photo dump: brand, model, UPC, spec, price, and retailer are searchable fields.
Does BuyThisAgain need an internet connection?
No. Saving, recognition, search, and everything you've already saved work entirely offline. The only feature that would ever need a connection — optional AI identification — isn't deployed at all in the current version.
Is AI identification active?
Not currently. It's built into the app as a fallback for when on-device recognition alone isn't enough, but it's parked in this version — no photo or data is ever sent anywhere. On-device recognition and manual entry cover everything today.
How does the free tier work?
Your first 3 saved items are free, every feature included. Saving a 4th requires Premium — $39.99/year or a one-time $99.99 lifetime purchase.
Is my data private?
Everything stays on your device — no account, no cloud, no analytics. See the Privacy Policy.
What happens if I lose my phone?
Because everything lives only on your device, a lost, reset, or wiped device means that data is gone — no account to recover it from, since there's no account.
Does Buy Again check prices across stores?
No — it opens the most specific web search it can build from what you saved. It doesn't compare prices or complete a purchase; the price shown in the app is only what you recorded paying last time.
What if I accidentally save something twice?
A match by UPC, then brand + model, then brand + SKU prompts you to choose Update Existing or Save Another — never merged automatically.
